The Named God:

Sing the song of the almighty’s workings

Whose light cut through the darkest nothing

Whom molded earth

Whom sung the heavens

Breathed life to Gods,

Whom men spent praising

Hear the song

Regard the working

Named was He and pulled himself from the void waters

and sat atop the world upon a highest seat.

The waters laid above and from it he pulled a body, held it in his hands,

shaped it, molded it, filled it half with his light, the dark of the void

and blew into it, a living breath.

It burned hot and ruptured. Then he sat it upon a mantle.

He called it

Eralith: Earth, of dirt and metal

Reached, He, yet again, for another body and placed a drop of the void within it

filled the rest with his light and gave it a living breath.

It spun brilliantly bright and dimly dark in his hands,

then, placed it above the earth, he called it

Iseran: Sky, of endless light

From the void the Aether was cast, as a net, to connect all things.

A ceaseless torrent formed between Eralith and Iseran.

From it, formed the phases:

Wood, the spring

Fire, the summer

Wind, the fall

Water, the winter

As the void waters churned and expanded toward the earth and sky, intent on their unmaking,

The Named God stretched the heavens in the space between them,

separating the void from the world and named it the place of His dwelling.

Then, he pulled nine bodies from the waters.

In them he poured his light,

dipped them into the void,

and breathed life into them

and called them:

Varion

Caserin

Achron

Koren

Serathen

Krèlos

Èthos

Orhin

Saris

Then, placed at their necks, a carcanet, binding their form.

And they were made to serve Him.

Yet, they were unhappy to be made to serve and instead desired choice to serve,

as this—they believed—was the highest honor they could bestow upon Him.

To each of them He gave free will.

They asked Him,

‘Are we not deserved an act of good faith?’

At this, The Named took from himself, the power to will them

and placed it upon a plinth and formed a hallowed hall around it.

He named, Varion its protector, the first of Graces.

Varion requested of, The Named God,

‘Appoint an equal to guard what is sacred.’

And his form was split—he was replenished—and made from him the goddess, Renn.

He named them, Sentries and favored them, formidable strength.

The gods next asked,

‘Are we not worthy of heavenly home?’

He turned from them and created a city of resplendence.

Took He, Caserin, split his form a hundred and ninety-nine times,

replenished him and made from him Wardens and named him Grace

and their names many.

He favored them each, divine weapons.

Requested, They, to keep His time and report His works.

So, he Graced, Achron, the Master of Time and favored him a sacred clockwork.

Graced, Koren, Divine Messenger and favored her a winged staff and tablet of pure gold.

Then, asked they,

‘May we too craft with godly hand?’

The Named God obliged them.

And so, split Serathen in three, replenished her, and made from her The Virtues,

Masters of Powers, to govern the work of the gods in his stead:

She as Grace and of wisdom

Maris of compassion

Selmior of courage

Next, split and replenished was Krèlos and made from him,

The Sequences, Master of Works:

Creation

            Life

                        Knowledge

                                 Craft

                                                Transformation

                                                           Death

And so, named them:

Grace

            Eryth

                        Nohl

                                    Kri

                                                Kesh

                                                            Erlyze

and favored them each an instrument of working:

Loom

Sceptor

Tome

Hammer

Prism

Bell

To guide their creation, He named,

Èthos, Graced; split and replenished him and from him made,

The Keepers, to guide and protect. Their names were plenty.

Orhin, Graced; and from him, his numbered few were named,

Heralds among men, so that they may know The Named and his workings.

And whose numbers were most,

He Graced, Saris and made from him, The Vassals, to serve all the heavens.

Then asked the Sequences,

‘From what, shall we create?’

At this, The Named raised high, a vast mountain range,

with clay at its foot. Then told them,

‘Mold creation in My image and make it to praise the Heavens.’

So, they took clay.

Mixed it of their essence.

And molded creation in the image of The Named.

But they were not favored the breath of life.

They asked,

‘How might life be given unto creation’

The Named raised a well on Eralith,

placed into it, a smallest drop of the void,

poured his light into it,

and breathed upon its surface. Then said,

‘Cast into the waters that which is made of clay, and from it shall life spring.’

So, they did.

Came from the well onto the shores of Eralith, creation in the image of The Named.

Then asked The Sequences,

‘What shall we name them?’

‘What shall sustain them?’

He called them Man and for them creature.

For which he gave them stewardship over,

so that they may know godly works.

And the land which they came upon, He called paradise.

In Paradise:

Man dwelt among Gods,

Were taught by them and learned their works,

Knew not hunger nor need,

and were favored long life,

In the first age of Man.
